Girl Develop It
In November of 2011, I started teaching for Girl Develop It, a nonprofit dedicating to teaching women learn to code. I quickly ended up devoting myself to getting our chapter established full-time, running outreach, community management, scheduling classes, recruiting teachers, coordinating volunteers, writing new content, and contributing to global strategy for GDI.
I'm still very close friends with the amazing women I met while working on this project, and I couldn't be prouder of how everyone has grown. Under my leadership, GDISF grew several orders of magnitude. After running GDI I knew that I could start a school for women, which led me to join Hackbright Academy's founding team.
I often return to GDI to teach when I am working in a role that takes me far from the classroom. You can find out if I have classes listed at https://girldevelopit.com/
